My Final Thoughts

January 8th, 2012

me with my husband and son, August 2011

This post is really bittersweet for me. It is my last post as the Stronger Marriage blogger and I’m sad to go. But I’m also excited to see where the blog will go next and what the new writers have in store. We decided long ago that it would be a good idea to rotate the blogger periodically to keep things fresh and new.

Writing for the Stronger Marriage blog has truly been a dream come true. I have always wanted to write for couples and families but felt like it was too far-fetched to ever really achieve. But then this incredible opportunity came along and I have loved every minute of it.

Not only has this been a great opportunity but I have learned a lot from my experience as well. When I first started this blogging (as an internship), my husband and I were experiencing some difficulties with school and work and it was putting some strain on our own relationship. But then being completely immersed in marriage articles, advice, research, and having to recall all that I learned in my marriage and family classes helped turn my thoughts and attitude around.

I am grateful for the chance I had to strengthen my own marriage through the Stronger Marriage blog. Of course, we are not perfect, and we pick petty fights more often than we should. But I know that we are trying to build a solid foundation so that our relationship can continue to flourish for years to come.

Most of the articles I chose to write about this past year were reflections of lessons I learned in my own life. There were times when we had a big disagreement but as we worked to resolve it, I learned what realistic steps were necessary to get our relationship back on track. And then I chose to open up about our own experiences with a hope that, even in some small way, they also helped you in your relationships!

I hope you continue to take advantage of StrongerMarriage.org and its wonderful programs! They have a lot of good advice and tips to help you have more loving and healthier relationships. Besides learning how to make my relationship healthier, I also learned how important it is to talk openly about marriage and relationships and how important it is to have programs like StrongerMarriage.org. Start now to strengthen your relationship. I know I will still be following the blog and will use it to strengthen my marriage!

Thank you all for your amazing support and encouragement through this last year! This blog wouldn’t have been anything without the readers and so thank you for making it such a wonderful experience!
